Cataract Surgery Illustrations

Paul Pridgeon, the medical illustrator from The Pridgeon Design Group created these Cataract Surgery Illustrations for Health Dialog. They are used on a webpage about the treatment of Cataracts.  Paul consulted with producers from Health Dialog, the Foundation for Informed Decision Making, and surgeons from Massachusetts General Hospital to create this series of Cataract Surgery illustrations.

Normally, the lens of your eye is clear. A cataract causes the lens to become cloudy, which can affect your vision. We illustrate 2 procedures here. One is to remove the lens completely and replace it with an artificial lens. The second option involves a surgical tool that breaks up and removes the cataract from the affected lens.
